About French Gardens Today.

Clare and Julian Whately

Clare Whately started Border Lines in 1987 and built it up to become the pre-eminent garden tour operation in the UK.

As a result, Clare well understands the high standards expected by you all.

Having sold Border Lines, Clare set her sights on northern France, and has explored more than a hundred of the hidden and often unknown French gardens being created today.

At the start of 2010, Clare joined forces with the long-established Cricketer Holidays. Their attention to detail and personal service will ensure that the planning of your Tour will be easy and enjoyable. With their ABTA and ATOL membership, they also offer you peace of mind.

Robin Lane Fox has travelled with Clare several times and wrote in the Financial Times:

'I travelled in the best possible way with Clare Whately, one of the queens of garden organisation, who has never let her clients down in many years of holidays on their behalf . . . If you like gardens you are certain to find kindred spirits in her group.'
